PROVENANCE AND ETHICS
Patagonia was founded by Yvon Chouinardin 1973, the company's roots are in clothing for rock and alpine climbing, but they now produce a diverse mix of apparel targeted towardsskiers, snowboarders, surfersand climbers. Patagonia are a world leader in creating ethical, sustainable clothing.
Recycled Wool: Insulating, breathable and long lasting - Patagonia use recycled wool to extend the life span of a valuable fibre that has already been produced. Sourced from factory scraps and postconsumer garments that can be re-spun into a new yarn. Using recycled wool helps reduce CO2 emissions by 95% compared to virgin wool.
Recycled Nylon: Nylon is one of the strongest materials used in clothing and gear. Using recycled nylon, Patagonia decrease their dependence on virgin petroleum as a raw material and reduce discarded fabric.
Fair Trade: Patagonia now use more than 20 Fair Trade factories that specialise in the production of outdoor clothing, paying a premium for every Patagonia item that is made in a Fair Trade Certified factory. They actively encourage other brands that do business in those factories to join them in the Fair Trade movement, ensuring living wages within the supply chain.
